First Jazz band tryout

  1. I was asked to try-out for the town jazzband, which I am quite pumped for because if I make it, it will open alot of doors for me in this small town.

It's like the town jazzband thats put on by the local college, i'm pretty amazed that if i join, i'll be playing with much more older, experienced people.

I don't know what I should do. I'm thinking of playing Autumn Leaves, everyone knows that song.
Maybe play the melody, then a bass line after it?

What do you guys think? Do you have any tips on band tryouts.

  2. play lots of rap.. yea...

    G'luck...

    :D

  3. When in doubt, call them and ask for what they want to hear. I would audition with a song that's already part of their repetoire - that way they will know if your style is compatible with their style.
