I have been waiting for this moment. finally got my first pic- thuay burl top, spanish cedar body..she's freshly carved... not wetted, so it looks far less dramatic than it will finsihed, but i think she will be a knockout. more soon...

Adrian, is that going to be the SKB model or the LG? Which do you prefer and why? Looks beautiful by the way.

    droooooooooooool...

What did you decide on for the fingerboard? Some wild striped ebony or even birdseye maple would look great with that top!

that will be an skb. Roscoes 6's are almost always skb- Jimmy Haslip one of the 2 lg sixers Ive ever seen.
I like the skb because it has a little more mass. Its very comfy to wear and i think its a very elegant design. I dont dislike the lg, but in a 6, definitely sbk.
With bass, i started out to be way different. I wanted flame maple neck stringers and bubinga strips. I wanted a myrtle or maybe qulted mahogany body. It became a pain in the ass to find the right woods and quantities, so i backed off and let Keith do what he does best. Spanish cedar has a warm tone, the blue Roscoe i had sounded wornderful and it was cedar.
The fingerboard will be macassar ebony, very striped. I have to give props here to Larry at Gallery Hardwoods for hooking me up with the Thuya and the Ebony.
    High expectations for this one.

Adrian, I held off as long as I could since most people are probably sick of hearing me talk about Roscoe's, but here goes anyway. Keeping in mind all of the other "what type of wood" threads, my Spanish Cedar/burl maple SKB is my sweetest sounding bass. Of course the burl myrtle LG sounds great as does the ash body LG. But there is something just a little bit more musical or acoustical about the Spanish Cedar.

    Still wanting a fretless Roscoe!!!!!

PS: I agree, the SKB shape is more elegant. The sleek LG does work well for us little folk though.
