I just got a call from my guitar tech stating that he cannot possibly fit the Bart 3.3 preamp into my Hwy 1 Jazz bass. He said the module is too big and there is no room to place the battery. Has anyone here installed a Bart 3.3 in their jazz bass?

Sounds like he is telling you the truth. a module and a battery? I was thinking about doing that, but you would have to route out some extra room for it (under the pickguard). You wouldn't see the route, but it would be fuggly without the pickguard. Have you looked at the J Retro preamps? They are a 3 band preamp that is made to fit in jazz cavities.

yeah, it'd be very tight in there. You might have to do some routing work.
