fitting tuners on a squier headstock

    Hey guys. Ive recently been upgrading my 2002-2003 Squier affinity p bass. Moreso for fun then anything else. I noticed on this mode the tuners are the closed back pieces of junk.

    I picked up a set of some nice quality ones for around 35$ and I was pretty set on using them, but they don't fit! I knew id have to drill out the holes as the top part of the squier tuner is tiny. but even on the back it appears that the mounting plate is to large.

    What do you guys suggest? trim them to fit or plug and redrill the holes perhaps? Im pretty much up for anything.

    Here's a little update:

    Through my research I've come to find they are Fender vintage bass tuners.
