I have an old framus bass I've tried to tune it.
either the open string are in tune and the fretted ones are sharp or the open strings are flat and the fretted notes are in tune HELP?
  2. It's pretty apparent that the action on your bass is too high. The three area's that are important are the height of the strings from the fretboard at the nut, the amount of relief in the neck, and the height of the strings as adjusted by the bridge. Search the archives and you'll find plentiful info on how to do a setup.
