I used to have TI flats on my Jazz. Sounded great. Lots of presence and tonnes of tone. Definitely worth doing.

Where would I find TI flats, and who makes them?

They are made by Thomastik Infeld. You can get them online from The Dude Pit which is also know as Vintage Bass (the Dude Pit has the pricing and the Dude also has the fastest service around), Juststrings.com, and bassguitarstrings.us. They are somewhat pricey but they do last a long time and age like good wine.
