Does anyone use flatwounds with J pickups? I have a Dean Razor Standard with active J p/u's. I really don't care for the sound I get from it. It sounds to me like a detuned guitar. I really like the bass, and really don't want to get rid of it. Is there anything I could do to get more of a bass sound like on the "Lemon Song" by Zepplin? I realize I can't get the exact sound, but I want to get rid of some of the twanginess. Thanks for any help.

  2. Try nickel strings.. perhaps you have stainless steel on? Try a bone nut. That can help bring out the bass in an instrument.

Try Thomastik-Infeld JF-344's...they have plenty of "zing" for flats.
