FLEA - ALL BASSES

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Bart Funk Bass, Sep 16, 2020.

  1. He wasn’t on the album, just that performance on Letterman. Apparently Flea knew Jewel from a few years before, he met her in San Francisco either at one of her gigs or just playing on the street.

I asked about that Hofner in their thread. Probably mid 90's German reissue.

Nice! I also came across this scan of him and the Sunburst Hofner, might be the same one that you posted about in the Hofner thread. I haven't been able to find more info, unfortunately.

I just heard a song called Charlie by RHCP that I hadn't heard before. Sounded like a jazz to me - do you experts know if thats what he was playing at that time?

Yes, it's a Jazz. The entire "Stadium Arcadium" album is his favorite 1961 Jazz Bass with a few exceptions.
    Here is Modulus:

All those ads really say is "Flea just let us pay him to use his pictures!"

    :roflmao:

This thread proves the only thing he's really loyal to is using a variety of great gear to get cool tones

He probably started using GHS Boomers as he switched to Modulus [1997].

This is February of ‘96 and his tech says he was using GHS Boomers.

I wonder why, since he had an endorsement with Ernie Ball till 1996.

Cause endorsements, and what you like the sound of, are not necessarily the same thing ;)

Actually Ernie Balls sound better than GHS, but that's my taste;)

    Interesting thing.
Here's the new active custom shop jazz bass with BadAss bridge:

Although, this one has stock Fender-style BadAss:

As far as I know, the Fender bridge is 3 times cheaper. It costs around $35 in Europe. I am thinking about putting one onto my JB.

Plus in these pics the Silver bass has a Lane Poor pickup and the Shell Pink bass has an Aguilar pickup.
