Hey, I don't know if somebody's asked this before, but I'm interested in finding out how Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers does that jolty effect in the verse of "If You Have to Ask" and in the chorus of "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" both off of that aforementioned CD. I hear it's just a lot of treble, but I'm checking here just because you guys have probably addressed this technique over and over again. Thanks.
What do you mean by "jolty"? I'm no expert, but I love that album and am familliar with playing that song, so I might be able to help. Do you mean the sound of the sixteenth-note-triplets or something else?
I know exactly what u mean, the triplets.. fast like notes, theres easy excersizes of doing it, u just play a line like: G|------------------------------------ D|---10-12-14--1210---10-------------- A|-------------------12---12---------- E|------------------------------------- ^ this is where u speed up and if u just do different notes and riffs using it, u will be locked in the technique.
