What kind of Overdrive (I think?) does Les use when he's with the Frog Brigade. He's got a real sharp kick ass tone. Like in "Girls for Single Men". What's he using?
Um... i'm not sure about that... BDDI doesnt seem right... seeing how he has the PSA-2... I'm not positive but i dont recall ever seeing the BDDI on his effects arsonal on stage. I recall seeing a boss multi effect, midi switch (probably for the psa-2), and some other box which was no way a Tech 21 case. This is from the First ever frog brigade show at the Filmore back in whenever. Also, he had the same stuff at the last ever Frog Brigade show at the Filmore on new years eve. wow... never realized that i saw both the first and last shows... neato...
...Bassplayer said he used a sansamp BDDI for boost and I remember seeing it on his pedal board while with the Frog Brigade. they also said he used a Korg floor Multi-Effect but mainly for the envelope filter, but Bassplayer has been wrong before.
I dont know exactly what gives that fat overdriven sound but he ALWAYS has that sound and always has had it. I think its just his personal tone done through a decent array of rack effects/preamps/amps. I once heard that he used some form of limiter to lower his sound while using a bunch of ampeg/mesa tube amps cranked all the way up. When he's not using effects he sounds just like he did on the Anti-Pop tour. I know at the Frog Brigade show he definetly had a large rack of tools plus atleast a Korg Multi-effect floor unit and a Boomerang.
