I practice iaido and have a ton of "Choji" mineral oil which has done double duty on swords & fb's for years. :)

I use this stuff with great results: Bore Oil for the Fife and Fret Doctor

It is was formulated by a guy who was originally interested in creating woodwind bore oil. Most fine woodwinds are made of grenadilla, a kind of rosewood that's in the genus dalbergia...like the rosewood on our fretboards.

Is the Dunlop lemon oil not recommended anymore? I’ve been using that on my ebony board(imperial 5) for a couple years and had no problems. Always leaves it looking so nice too!

Thanks guys, I'm still unsure which one to get from Europe though :( Maybe I will just go with Sandberg's fingerboard oil, any good?

Thing is, I am really worried to "try" something and wait for the long term effect. My Foderas deserve better than being tested and wait to see if the wood dries and cracks or not! No no no..

I remember Roger Sadowsky recommending Planet Waves and Mike Tobias recommending Dunlop. I use those.

  6. I have used Dunlop ultimate lemon oil for about 10 years, NEVER any problems and I live in Finland where there is really dry climate half of the year. I use it on my Fodera as well, no problems... and like said before, Mike Tobias recommends it.

A question about changing batteries. Not time, but at what voltage do you change batteries? A new 9V will show about 9.7 volts. I change them in the EMG at 2-3 months, and they have 9.3V. Is this being wasteful, as I had some in Fodera's longer, and the worst were 8.9, but still worked fine. At what point does the preamp become unhappy about voltage?

About to send the wood pickup cover to the factory for modification..
Luckily a friend built me a 3d model and printing it out as temp..

Just realized the pickups and bridge on 17mm spacing 33" mg are much smaller...to 19mm
    after the measurement..

Thanks guys, I think I will give the Sandberg oil a try, after all, they should know what they're doing, I hope :)

But I will make sure to pin Jason with an email first and ask him what he thinks, I prefer to put something Fodera approved, as I trust them more than any other luthier in the world!

Here is the latest arrangement video with my Monarch Deluxe bass in Tenor tuning (ADGC)

I hope you'll like it! If you watch it till the end, you get a glimpse of the Yin Yang Deluxe as well :smug:

Kapalua area on the north west side of Maui, Hawaii. The home for 100's of majestic Koa trees would be up in the Haleakala district. 3000 - 7000 feet above sea level.
