Up for sale is my Fodera Emperor Elite 5 that was made in the late 80s. This bass has quite a history. Originally it was a fretless but 13th street guitars, an authorized Fodera repairer, made it to a fretted bass! The bass was then sent to Pat Wilkins for a black satin finish, which looks and feels great. The gloss that was originally on the bass was removed by Wilkins.

The bass sounds and plays great, and is in good condition considering the age (I’d give it an 8/10).

    Quilted maple top
    Mahogany wings
    Alder tone block
    Macassar ebony finger board
    3 pc Maple neck
    Lane Poors soap bars
The new Mike Pope flex core preamp
    34 scale
    19mm spacing
    Bass weighs about 10lbs
Fodera hard shell case (in pretty good condition

Note: there was an addition of old scuba divers helmet on the body. This was added to cover the original owner’s initials. Pleas see the pics.

$5000 (OBO) gets the bass to your door (CONUS).

    Paypal is fine.

I’m really not interested in trades but may consider an MTD 5-string with wenge/wenge (neck/board) +cash my way. I won’t consider other MTDs.

Please feel free to ask any questions.

Gorgeous. I bet those LPs sound amazing, too.

    A few quick questions, please:

Is it a neck-through or dovetail joint (the finish makes it difficult to discern)?
Is the scuba helmet a decal, painting, or inlay (or something else)?
Are the neck side dot markers on the fret lines or in-between?

    Thank you.

It’s a neck-through, and the scuba helmet is an inlay. There are fret markers on the side for every fret. A large mark for the regular fret marks and a small dot for the minimal frets. The marks are where the frets lie.

The bass is strung with black beauties, but I also have slightly used Fodera nickel strings I’ll include. And by slightly used, I mean they have about 10 hrs of total playing time.
