    Price:
    $4950.00
    Strings:
    5
    Location:
    California
IMG_2870.JPG This Fodera Emperor Standard 5 is a GREAT bass with some killer, killer tones. Ergonomically, it's not for me. But it may well be for you…and I've just reduced the asking price, although I can't figure out how to edit the heading that still says $4950 - now down to $4800, shipped CONUS.

    Features, per the Fodera website:
    • Medium Weight Ash
    • Bi-Color 5A Flame Maple Top
    • Solid Top
    • Pau Ferro Fingerboard
    • 1-pc Hard Rock Maple Neck
    • Mother-of-Pearl Dot Inlays
    • 45125 Stainless Steel Strings
    • Bolt-On Construction
    • 34" Scale
    • 5 String Configuration
    • Fodera / Pope Standard 3-Band Preamp

    • Fodera Standard Layout
    • Fodera Dual Coil Pickups
This is from the first run of these basses, and has a flamed maple pattern that is subtle but deep - almost like a checkerboard effect. The pau ferro fingerboard is dark, striped and beautiful. Body is on the lighter side for these - in the 9-9.5 lb. range so far as I can tell. Playability is great and the tones are remarkable - this one didn't work for me, but there will be another Fodera in my future.

The original owner treated the fretboard with boiled linseed oil - and it turns out I'm allergic, even though it is widely used by guitar techs. Per advice from the Fodera shop, a great local tech in Los Angeles used denatured alcohol and steel wool to reduce this effect, and also tightened up the Pope 4-Band modification that was installed by the first owner. The 3-Band parts, all tools, owner propaganda and a set of dunlop strap locks are included. Also sporting first-owner-installed Fodera steel strings, .40-.120. And you also get the Fodera hardshell case.

REDUCED TO $4800.00 shipped CONUS, and paypal is fine.

Per an inquiry re weight of this axe:

My digital bathroom scale only does 1/2 pound increments. In six readings, 3 were at 9.0, 3 were at 9.5. I ain't no math man, but I figure it can't be lighter than 8.74 or heavier than 9.74, and insofar as all 6 readings include 1/2 of their range somewhere between 9 and 9.5, let's figure the weight likely is between 9 and 9.5 pounds.
