Anyone heard of a Fodera that has NYC on the headstock with Fodera in small print underneath? I tried a used one at my local shop, some guy traded a 4 and a 5 on a new MTD. It was one of the heaviest basses I have ever tried, they are selling it for around $1500. I have never seen this model on the website anyone have any experience with these.

It's a Fodera NYC model, similar to a Fender Jazz. It's on the lower end of Fodera's offerings.

Fodera created the NYC if they ever needed, due to demand, to make a production bass or farm out some of the parts to be built. To my knowledge, however, each NYC has been made, by hand in Foder'a Brooklyn shop.

The weight of the bass has much to do with the body wood. If this particular one was an ash body, I know the bass. It is northern ash, not swamp ash and is a VERY heavy bass.
