check it out... that is no Fender. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/BASS-GUITAR_...ryZ38079QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem see post #41 for the buyer's message back to me... buyer is still looking for a good 2nd hand Jazz bass in Sydney, so if you can help.
Third time I've been through the Lane Cove tunnel tonight, and there was not a soul in there. Just like the two previous times.
At least he's not claiming that it's a vintage Fender or anything. In fact, he's not even claiming it's a Fender. But $550 for a blatant knock off? That's a bit steep.
Has the add been "updated"?? Doesnt mention the word fender at all. Way too expencive for a cheap copy though. Originally Posted by A9X "So do several million others. I checked that out the first time when they put it up and it looked wrong, especially the sticker, neck everything.. don't remember if it actually said Fender in the listing. I am actually in the market for a P or J so luckily I know enough not to bid
Isn't there a law against stuff like that?? That's outright blatant destruction against the fender name in a public place :scowl:
hmmm...interesting...the auction is STILL misleading. because the headstock says "fender" and the neckplate says "fender"... he must stipulate that it is "not a Fender"... i have messaged him...he hasn't responded... I'm goint to report this auction as fraudulant...I suggest you all do the same...I don't want to see someone get suckered here.
I beg to differ, he's selling a bass that claims itsself to be a "fender" via the decal and neckplate without being a fender at all... hence, he is trying to sell a fraudulant item...a "bootleg", if you will... in additon...this bass is listed under "Fender Basses" when you do a search... the seller really has an ethical as well as legal obligation to make potential buyers aware... "i don't know much about musical instruments" is NOT an excuse...the seller is responsible for his own auction.
Actually, even if he says it's a knock off it's still against the rules. There's copyright infrigement involed in the improper use of the logo. So it's not kosher.
hmmmm...so he'll have to modify the logo... not much you can do about a stamped part (re. neckplate), however...
Besides the logo, how can you tell it's not the real deal? Or, better put, how can 'one' tell it's not authentic in the general case? For one thing, I never buy music or specialised gear from someone who doesn't know anything about it - except in the case where it's obvious they don't know anything because the price is so low.
exactly...for those who know fender...it's easy...the headstock is wrong, the body is wrong, the bridge is wrong, the pickguard is wrong, the control plate is wrong. but for those who think it's fender because it "looks fender" and "says fender"...and "hey, aren't fenders supposed to be expensive?"...they'll be fooled besides, one poster already said that the item was originally touted to be an MIA fender...
