Foot switch question

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Soundchaser11460, Nov 26, 2017.

  1. I'm in the process of trading for a Genz Benz Shuttlemax 12.0.The only thing is I found out it does not have the supplied foot switch it came with. Is this a necessity with the amp or a convenience? Should this be a deal breaker? Thanks in advance. Joe.

I never once used the foot switch with any of my ShuttleMAX amps.

The attached cable was just too long. They needed to figure out a way to make it detachable so you could use whatever length you actually needed.

With that said, if I was buying one, I'd still want it...unless it was dirt cheap.

  3. Thanks Dave. I'm actually just paying shipping, as it's a trade deal. Joe.

Most (single switch) foot switches are two positions; step on it and the switch closes, step on it again and it opens back up. The manual will tell you what it controls and in most cases tell you what you need if you want to buy a generic switch. Some have two switches and use a TRS type 1/4" jack to control two different settings. The manual should still describe what it controls and might also tell you what you need if you want to make one or buy a 3rd party switch. But yes, it's for convenience. It wouldn't be a deal breaker to me.

  7. An aftermarket footswitch won't be expensive.

EDIT: Nevermind. It requires a five button proprietary footswitch.

  8. Good luck finding a switch that does all that & has the same connector.
It's not using a 1/4" TS or TRS plug, because there are too many connections to make.

TBH, it looks like a PS2 keyboard connector, not sure what they're called.

Aged Horse will be along in the morning to tell us.

    It's a round thingy.

  10. Yeah, reminds me of old keyboard connectors:

Correct it's not a standard footswitch.

If you can wait a couple of weeks I'm pretty sure I have some new ones. PM me and I will get you a price and let you know when I get them sorted out.

  12. Thank you guys so much. Very appreciated.agedhorse thank you so much. I'll be in touch. So do you think the trade is OK to do?

  13. Yes, you should definitely trade whatever you have for the Shuttlemax, even though none of us know what you're trading... :smug:
unless it's from a previous admission from you

I'm a Genz Benz user, and to my recall the footswitch allows you to vary the boost buttons you find on your head. If you like to set it and play, there's no need to get floor space involved. I guess there may be solo breakouts that make a pedal convenient, but it's not for me.

It's a good amp and I still service them under my flat rate program.

  19. If the tube sound of the Shuttle Max is much like the sound of a Neo-Pak, then you'll probably love the sound of it vs. the G-K.

  20. Thanks Killed_by_Death. I believe your right
