For bassists who also play electric guitar, just curious to see what kind you're playing. What's your main player? I have a mutt Strat. It started off as a Fender MIJ 50s Reissue... but over time, I've replaced everything except for the body and hardware. It now sports a Warmoth neck which I really like. I almost always play it direct into a little Bugera V5 all-tube combo which sounds really great for being an el cheapo. Anyone else?
Warmoth mutt with Carvin (yep, pre-Kiesel) neck, pseudo-PRS body, and Bill Lawrence Wilde USA PUs. Kiesel Zeus headless with Kinman P90-buckers. PRS SE Hollowbody II.
A Strat and a Guild Starfire IV. Strat is a MIM Classic Series '60s I bought about twenty years ago. Modded with a matched set of Duncan Alnico Pros. The Starfire is a very late Westerly one. One PUP went bad (one coil went out) so I had it rewound by the custom shop at Seymour Duncan to as close to their '59 neck 'bucker.
Am I a guitarist who now plays bass, or have I become a bassist who still plays guitar. I'm primarily a bassist now (almost full-time except for Christmas where I get relegated to the church lobby playing Christmas chord melodies.) So with my many years of guitar playing I have 3 custom built acoustic arch tops, a Guild X155D and Mark IV, a 62 AVRI Fender Strat six PRS guitars (it's a sickness, I know) a Martin OMCE, A Norman dreadnaught, and a Walden flattop. I think that's it, but I might have missed one.
It’s the Eddie Van Halen guitar from the mid ‘80s. Mine is black, not the crazy red white and black job Eddie did to his.
I have a glitter gold les paul copy. it sounds good, plays OK. luckily my guitarists leave their guitars in the practice space, so I have access to nicer LP's, strats, tele, kramer, etc.
Yup, sounds familiar. I believe my buddy's was black, too... and he put a Seymour Duncan Invader or Super Distortion pickup in it.
Why not multi-choice poll? Peavey Vandenberg Gibson Les Paul Fender Strat ESP Strat-like Godin Exit 22 Using an Avid Eleven Rack for both guitar and bass, direct to EV ZLX12P top and EV ZXA1 sub. Guitar tube amp and cab relegated to "will sell soon because not using it anymore". Bass tube amp and cab also relegated to "will sell soon because not using it anymore".
I have a few, use to have more but I've downsized. Ibanez PF200 - Flat-top Electro-Acoustic strung with D'Addario Chromes Ibanez AF75 - Full Hollow Archtop Electric strung with Thomastik Jazz Flats Kasuga Les Paul - Solid Body Electric strung with D'Addario Nickel Rounds Eko 100 - Acoustic Archtop strung with D'Addario Chromes They cover enough sonic ground for me. I also have a Strat style guitar somewhere, but I don't really like it so it's been put away so long I don't know where it is, and I also have a cheap flat top acoustic that is in Nashville tuning that use for recording if I want that 12 string kind of vibe. For most gigs I tend to use the Ibanez AF75, but if it's a louder gig I tend to use the Kasuga Les Paul. I would like a bass vi and a baritone, my country still has the Ibanez 7 string 30 inch crossover available in shops, I was thinking if I got that and tuned it EADGCFBb it would pretty much be both of those covered.
Bassist here who happens to have frequent GAS attacks for other instruments. Here's my favorite. Custom built, Tele by Chellee. Designed to be a modern take on the Broadcaster. {}
