For Sale my 1997 Tobias Killer B 6 String w/OHSC I saddens me to put this fellah up for sale. I'm the original owner and have had it as my main bass till I decided to go back to passive 4 strings a few years back. But truth be told he is just sitting sad in his case unplayed as are many other basses and pedals that will shortly be popping up in here. That said this fellah plays and sounds amazing I have sound samples should you wish to hear it. $1,500 (Includes insured shipping within the CONUS) The Specs: (as I remember them, please feel free to chime in and I'll amend as necessary) Translucent Blue Body Swamp Ash Five Piece Neck Maple + Purple Heart Pau Ferro Fingerboard 24 Frets 34 Inch Scale Bartolini Soapbars Bartolini electronics Controls: Volume, Pickup Blend, Active Passive Switch, Bass, Mid, Treble Tobias Bridge (Tobias logo) Tobias Tuners (w/Tobias logo) String Spacing 17mm Weight 9.5 - 10 lbs (bathroom scale method) Currently strung with a Fodera Stainless Steel set (34-125 with a Tapered B) Action is set fairly low. The neck and truss rod are in perfect working condition. Frets look great! It has normal wear and tear, finish swirls, black finish has come off on the bridge. I'm including a set of pickup screws I just bought from ALL PARTS. Comes with an OHSC with a few dings of it's own and a non-working latch (got busted while on tour). {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {}
About 9.5-10 lbs on my bathroom scale. A very light specimen of these basses. As I have heard/read some of these can be unwieldy beasts.
Since I have a few parties interested in this fellah. I figured maybe hearing how this beast of bass sounds might help determine if it's for you or not. Here you have a quick sample I recorded against a drum track. In the first part I'm isolating the Neck pup, in the badly slapped portion I'm using both pups, and the funky-ish bit is all Bridge pup. This bass has a very versatile, tight and focused sound that always sits well in the mix. A little compression is all I have ever needed to make it sing.
