i came across some NOS vintage G & L bass knobs purchased directly from Leo Fender's wife. if you're looking for these, you probably already know that these are inpossible to find, especially NOS. they came in two sizes, large and small. I have about 10 of each size available asking $20 each + actual shipping.

    thanks!

Do you have 2 of the large and one of the small? Or do you have 3 of the large?

If so, PM me,... I'm interested...

    Hello John K.,

I was referred to you by John F., an e-bay seller from whom I purchased three vintage NOS G&L bass control knobs. Apparently, he had been in consultation with you about a G&L-related project that did not ultimately materialize, hence the availability of the knobs. I purchased these for a vintage 1982 G&L L-2000 bass that I had recently found and obtained. (This was a replacement for a similar bass I originally ordered new and foolishly traded away at some point). The replacement bass is wonderful, with the exception of only coming with one of three original control knobs. I came to discover that these are quite rare and difficult to obtain. Accordingly, I immediately responded to John F.'s ad. Upon receiving these, I was disappointed to discover that these were smaller than the original knob that came with the bass. I did some research and found previous postings from you on Talk Bass that indicated the existence of both a large and smaller versions of this knob for bass. From further research, it appears that the smaller knobs were used on guitars and, to a limited extent, basses. Most images of the older G&L basses seem to have the larger knob. Your good reputation proceeds you and I trust your expertise in this matter, as I am still very much learning about details related to vintage instruments. Accordingly, I wanted to verify with you if 1) I am understanding this correctly, and/or what else I need to understand, and 2) If you have access to or know where I might check to find at least (2) of the larger vintage control knobs for bass to match the one I have. In the meantime, the smaller vintage knobs look much better on the bass that the previous new knobs from G&L that I had on it and will certainly suffice if there are no other options. Ah, the search continues.. Thank you for your time. I would sincerely appreciate any assistance that you can provide. I am only sorry that I did not see the postings from last year about the knobs you were selling! Thank you, Andrew B.
I can be contacted through the Talk Bass Forum that I recently registered for, and would be happy to provide additional contact information as needed. Mailing address: P.O. Box 19761, Boulder, CO 80308

Thank you for responding so quickly! IMG_0560. Yes, I would be very much interested in obtaining at least two of the larger knobs, and if possible, a third one, thinking that it is always good to have an extra as a replacement if ever needed. Let me know how best to arrange this.
