Holy moly! What happened there? Insects?
Edit - I showed the picture to Pfeffernuss, and told her I had just bought it. Hilarity ensued.
Looks like termites?
I just assumed the Fender Custom Shop guys had taken the relic thing a bit too far.
(They'd probably charge about $8500 for this... lol)
How long was it in the lake?
Wow that missing UPS package finally arrived
Probably from taking it out of the case on the surface of the sun. Dries it out quick!
Which CL is that from?
Won't be able to tell how extensive the damage is until you re-string it and plug it in.
Tis just a scratch...
best bass for termites?
One can only assume that termites don't care for maple... But they do seem to love rosewood and whatever else that used to be...
If only it was a 5 string. . .
That'll buff out.
Tough to tell the primary cause(s) of damage from the picture.
Termites pack their tunnels full of dirt and when they move on it dries out and whatever cellulose is left is just splinters. But it looks like there was moisture damage first, maybe?
either way, GLWTS!
BLAST! Beat me to it!
That's the thing with Jazz...Pbass would survive
On the plus side, the string tree looks like it's in great shape.
