I tossed one of these in my fretless Jazz bass today and have been blown away by it: http://tinyurl.com/ytvr2d. He still doesn't have a name or web site etc., but it adds a TON of colors. I want to hear it on a fretted bass soon. You can't beat the price either! :)

Stan Hinsley at has sound has one that is similar. Or maybe you could tell me the difference.

It's actually not a preamp, this looks like a nice passive vari-tone circuit. Bonus points for the nice looking natural wood control plate.

Yep, it is a passive varitone for a Jbass+ some other extras. Sounds interesting... subscribed.

Isn't it the same thing to just get a "stellar-tone" knob? Plus the ST has 11 settings rather than five. just a thought.

Yeah, it looks nice but it's kind of apples-and-oranges in comparison to the Audere.

If this is what you need, this could be a pretty good deal at $80 shipped. Similar-looking controls with a cover plate (not wooden though) from HAS are about $130.

I've never used one of these on a bass. FWIW, I personally haven't found a Vari-Tone circuit very useful on Gibson ES-345 guitars.
