    Hey folks,

Finishing up a great vintage bass. I am 99% sure its a German Framus from 1971. Solid Body, awesome thin neck with block inlays - all original from what i gather.. i have the tuners as well. Not sure will keep them on it or replace them...

Any of you vintage honchos know with 100 pct certainty?

Thanks in advance all. Have a great weekend.

    Cheers.

    Joey,
I worked in Germany in musical instruments retail (1970-1973) and saw many Höfners, Kliras, Egmonds, Hoyers, and Framus instruments. This one looks totally unfamiliar to me. The pickup is quite unusual IMHO. The neck has a date written on it but not the way Germans would write it (the 7 and 1 are written differently.)
I have seen electrics from the Far East from that time period that looked similar. What makes you think it's a Framus?

The laminated neck looks definitely Framus.

    What's the scale length?

Looks like a Japanese made short scale bass from the late 60's to me. Neck inlays look like Kawai/Teisco so does the laminated neck and pickup.

This is not a Framus Bass. I can tell you the headstock shape/inlay is not right...and Framus basses had the truss rod accesible through a truss cover above the nut...not the end of the neck. Also, as the other poster mentioned, the numbers are not written in a typical German fashion. Thanks!

I am a hobbyist making stone picks that I sell but mostly give away. They made me do this anyways.
Logo looks like an old Silvertone logo.
