I've always liked the way this guy plays.

Here's what he admits is an incomplete discography. Nice selection of work if you ask me.

I've been digging him since his Ashford & Simpson sessions. Check out "Don't cost you nothing"... not flashy, just nice, tight playing. He's a contemporary of Marcus Miller, from back in the 70's.

What I like about him that he can do so many different things at a high level. Some bassists are killer fingerstyle players but their slap tone is so so. Some are better R&B players than they are jazz players. Francisco does so many things well.

That's probably my favorite Ashford and Simpson song. On a side note, why is that Nick's hair & makeup always looks better than Valerie's? :D

I was shocked when I found out that Francisco Centeno played bass on Ashford and Simpson's "Solid as a Rock." I just knew that was a bass synth! I forgot what box he said he used on that song. Also, did he play on Ashford and Simpson's "Any Street Corner?" That song had some killer slap on it!

I'd like to know what kind of box that was. I was sure it was a synth too.

I met Francisco many years ago in NY and he was very cool. The guy plays killer Latin jazz and salsa as well as the other material mentioned here.
