Free Jazz Bass Lessons

Discussion in 'General Instruction [BG]' started by mebusdriver, Jul 21, 2002.

  1. Does anyone know a good website for Jazz bass lessons. Or have a recommendation for an instructional video/book. I'm also looking for funk and begginers slap stuff. Thanks.

  2. In learning jazz the first thing to learn would be how to read, if you can't read head on over to www.libster.com

I however would suggest finding a teacher if you are interested in jazz, learning off the internet would be extremely difficult, and it would be more than worth it to find yourself a good jazz bassist to teach you.

It depends what level you are at.
If you past beginner stage, you could
    consider the Lessons By Mail
    Jazz Bass course at visionmusic.com

I've done the course, and it is excellent.

And by the way, you don't need to read to do the course.

  4. My non-professional advice is a real live teacher. Thats what I'm doing and I couldn't imagine doing it any other way. The explainations of playing certian scales over chords and whatever else we were talking about last lesson is something that would have taken me years to figure out on my own.
