Freeware Photo Editor?

Discussion in 'Off Topic [BG]' started by blipndub, Feb 23, 2005.

  1. Incredibly my version of windows does not come with a decent photo editor where I can crop, resize, etc.

Does anyone know of a good, free editor out there?

MS Windows? Search for IrfanView if you want a great tool for simple graphics work, including previewing thumbnails, or The Gimp if you want a fully featured graphics tool.

  3. IrfanView looks like just what I need, thanks so much!

I use it here at work because I don't *need* Photoshop for my job (that's what I use at home).

If Photoshop didn't exist (I own most versions since ver 2 for the Mac and through PS7 for Windows), I'd use Gimp more often.
  5. Now i'm installing The Gimp, it looks like what i'll need for most stuff.
  6. I see, it does operate like photoshop, that good.

I use irfanview for basic resizing, cropping etc.. I use gimp for more complicated stuff. Irfanview is easier to get around in and open files quickly and whatnot.

For quick and easy, I have found Google's Picasa to be useful. Not nearly as full featured as some of the others, but still has some ease of use that I like.

    Have a look:
