French bow... on my bean!

I play a little bit of DB with a French bow (it can get pretty ugly, though!).

I also have been shaving my head for something like 10 years now.

Today as I was shaving the old bean, I came to the realization that I hold the razor much like a bow at times! Fairly good technique, surprisingly enough.

I've always noticed that the way I hold a pencil or a paintbrush is quite similar to my German bow hold. I think it makes for a good metaphor.

I think I'll subscribe to this thread.
If you guys start talking about applying rosin I think I'd like to hear it.
  4. I think it would make sense to use some sort of aftershave lotion, not rosin.

Nah, no rosin. But I DO brush on a healthy lather. And maybe some witch-hazel afterward on occasion. But the Pops gets left in the music area!

Toothbrush... I always feel like I'm practicing mt french bow technique when I'm brushing my teeth.

One of my former teachers said a good way to practice an up bow staccato stroke using a French bow is to play pool.
