A few days ago, someone (sorry, can't remember who  ) asks about european luthiers. I've made some research and here are some of the french luthiers who make basses.

The first ones I've posted :
    Lag http://www.lag.fr/
    Leduc http://perso.wanadoo.fr/leduc/
    Vigier http://www.vigierguitars.com/

    And some more :

    You're welcome.
I've played a 5 strings Leduc recently and ... my, oh my !!!!
I got serious GAS but it's too expensive for me.
You need at least 1800 euros (second hand) to 2800-3000 euros (new) to get one.
But they are worth it, that's for sure.

NJXT - That Muscato Legend with the checkerboard inlay is HOT action!!! Thanks for the link!

BTW, when I do a currency conversion, US $$ to euros, the price on one comes to about $2340 US. Can you explain the difference between "new" and "second hand" euros? In the US, euros are simply referred to as "euros." No distinction is made.

    Thanks if you can/will explain.

I have a Leduc guitar which I bought in 1983 while in France. It's a nice little guitar, neck through construction with 2 Seymour Duncan pickups.I played a lot of gigs with it.If the basses are anything like it they must be very nice.

At this point, no euros have been printed. Thus, all euros are new. Or even not yet born :p:p:p (as if you didn't understand...):)

I played a Le Duc U bass a while back. It had one piezo no controls and a semi acoustic body. It was £1700 in 94. Excellent bass but too expensive for a cheapskate like me.

Arg. Sorry, my english synthax was gone for a while ;).
I was talking about the basses.
A (very good) bassist I know recently bought a second hand 5 Strings Leduc (in excellent condition), neck-through, for about 12 000 French Francs (~1830 euros). New, the same model would have cost about 18 000 French Francs (~2740 euros).
I tried it and it was one of the best bass I ever played, in terms of sound, comfort etc ...

Eyy, it's just rick getting out on the wrong side of the bed (there goes *my* syntax, and who cares).

What Leduc model did you try out? He's got a few major lines, and some are very different, like the U bass :):)

I might change my 'signature' ..... Go french for creativity!

    Frankly, I don't know. It wasn't a U one because it had a headstock.
I 've tried it for something like 10 minutes and when I asked the price to the owner, I just gave it back to him, knowing I'll never be able to afford it
So, I forgot to ask the model and I just sat in a dark corner and cried ;)

"Oh, I see," said the blind man. Thanks Lizard, I read it wrong, thought it was some kind of re-valuation thing.
