Fret a fretless neck

Discussion in 'Hardware, Setup & Repair [BG]' started by MikeBass, Jun 12, 2005.

  1. Anyone ever do this?
How much does it actually change the over all feel of the neck?
I figure the 1/16" that the frets may add to the thickness of the neck will make it feel chunkier, but I hope not to an uncomfortable degree.
    It's a 5 BTW.

    Maybe it's already lined?
  4. It's already lined and the only bad part is, they (Tyler) are not making basses right now, so a new neck from them is not possible.

  6. Umm....WOW!
I'm not that brave, but damn dude!
How did it affect the feel of the neck?
Did the overall feel get "thicker"?

A competent luthier can do this without a CNC machine. CNC machines have only existed recently, fretted stringed instruments have existed for centuries.

    Moved to Setup.
  8. Ahh YES!!!
    Silly me.
