Fret click!

  1. I got me a brand new Hamer Cruise 4 string today. Mighty fancy bridge compared to my MIM Jazz. A couple of truss rod tweaks yielded a slight bit of neck relief and I've got the action nice and low with no buzzing frets. But I am hearing the amplified click of the E string hitting the frets anywhere on the neck I play on the E string. The other strings don't make this noise and I'm good on my MIM J, so I don't think it's technique. What gives with fret click???

    A tapered-end E string could cause this because the string is nearer the fretboard. Even if it is not due to a tapered E string, it could be that you need to raise the bridge for the E string slightly. Hope this helps.
