So now that the Cobalts have been out a little while, has anyone been keeping an eye on fretwear? Last night I replaced the ones I've had on my Warwick for 2 months and noticed a lot of brass shavings left on the fretboard from the strings grinding on the frets. Never noticed that with other strings I've used (normally I use Nickels).

I wondered about this myself. If Cobalt is a harder metal than Nickel, it will be like Stainless and be tougher on your frets.

I don't have much interest in the Cobalts...i'm pretty happy with the Nickel offerings out there.

I've had Cobalts on my Fbass VF5 for a month now. Like the sound of 'em, and they last pretty well.

I usually use stainless rounds. So far I haven't noticed a difference in fret wear, but a month (two nights a week gigging, plus a rehearsal, and some woodshedding time) might not be enough to show.

They haven't really worn down the frets on my Squier Mike Dirnt.

I always thought the brass frets on Warwicks were a lot sturdier than the standard issue Fender nickel frets.
