Fretboard Height

  1. What is the usual height of the fretboard above the body on a fretted bass? I'm using Hipshot bridges.

a neck is usually 1" thick. your depth that a neck goes into the heel slot is 5/8. 16/16 minus 10/16 is 6/16 or 3/8" . So i'm guessing it should be 3/8 normally.

  3. The rule of thumb is that the strings should be touching the frets when the bridge saddles are at their lowest.
So lower the saddles as much as possible and measure the distance between the top of the saddle and the bottom of the bridge, this is the height that the neck should be above the body. (including the fret height)
