I've heard ebony on a fretless, but what does maple sound like on a fretless? Also, has anyone tried the Jaco epoxy thing?

Hi beachgeddy, and welcome to TB. I play on pau ferro, so unfortunately I can't answer your question. I believe you will find a vast amount of threads on fretboards in the search archives, including a lot of discussion on Jaco's marine varnish boards. :)
