this is strictly for gathering your opinions and for fun--
    what would you choose?
    1. Roscoe skb fretless - one piece Myrtle top- diamondwood board with lines

    2. F bass custom BN5 without frets, with lines, Maccassar ebony top and peghead- 3 band preamp
    metal bridge.
    here's the Roscoe:

    i like the ebony f!

  4. That macassar ebony is sweet, but I think the myrtle might contrast a little better with a dark-colored fretboard.

    I vote ebony.

  6. what's the F gonna have for a board?
i'd say the roscoe, 'cause diamondwood would be nice. but the ebony is sweet; could that have a diamondwood board?

no diamonwood on the F bass- gabbon or mac ebony- i would take a black ebony- i wouldnt want more figuring than what on the top!
oh, and the F bass would have a single pickup.. dont ask why, it just will!!:D

  8. hmmm...F bass, i say.

    Adrian,
You've been holding back on me. You have to get the F Bass so I can have that Roscoe to match my fretted Roscoe with the matching 1-piece myrtle top!

  12. Tough call, since they both make killer fretlesses. I really like the Diamondwood board for fretless (or fretted, for that matter), but I prefer the F-bass design.

I lean slightly towards the Roscoe, but I could easily go eaither way.

    Gard... thanks!! :D
either way- that myrtle is coming to Vegas.
    NOT FLORIDA!!!!!!!!;)
good thing you didnt see all the buckeye tops im getting with some Roscoes!!
yea, the ebony is heavy- but the way George would do it, it would be a thin a tops as possible- i am a true believer in thin tops- theyre for looks- the body wood must be prominent- i love the ash sound in the F bass- so this bass would be ash... with an ebony top-

    You bastard!

    ;)

Actually, I'm ok with it, but someone else that works with me may have a problem with it, since he prolly sold that stuff to Keith!

  18. I've never tried a Roscoe, but I'd be shocked if I would like it as much as an F Bass. Those things are just amazing. Plus, I definately like the Ebony more than the Myrtle. It's very unique.

that macassar ebony would go sweet with an ebony fingerboard that matches the darker color on the top wood.....deeeeelicious!

that myrtle is nice too....but I can't help my love of the looks of ebony tops.

ooh!! say thanks to grasshopper for me, Gard!!:)

i just got off the phone with George and got him to agree to try a diamondwood fretboard ( which i happen to have one of)- at my own risk!!
i will order both and keep one- and one will go to a happy home,, hopefully- im really quite surprised at the overwhelming votes for maccassar! the way George carves and finished, it will look fantastic- the matching pup(s ) i may still go with 2 pups, actually., will look great- should be a very classy looking bass- remeber- it will be a bn5- not a bnf5- it wount have 28 fret range ( thats just ASKING for trouble) and it will have lines and a metal bridge, but i said that already.
