Fretless fingerboard maintenance

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Funkmonkey, Mar 24, 2002.

  1. I have a fretless Fender Jazz Bass Special with a rosewood board. I've had it planed down twice to get rid of the grooves left by my roundwound strings. I was wondering what I should use to protect my fingerboard. Polyurethane, spar urethane, polycrylic? Thanks...

I just put a coat of tung oil on my Pedulla fretless T-bolt this weekend. That's what Mike Pedulla recommends, and it turned out bitchen. The Pedulla site has guidelines how to apply it. I can't say if Fender would recommend tung oil.
