Hi all, I want make a fretless jazz bass 4 strings proyect and I want know which wood-pups combo is better...

Im thinking in walnut body and birdseye maple neck and ebony lined fretboard...

my pickups options are (that I already have):

1-Bartolini BC soapbars with bart preamp (5 knobs config)

    2-basslines AJJ-1 set with basslines STC-2A preamp..

please let me know if Im going in the right way.Im all ears to more options, so please let me know what you think...

Hi I have a Warmoth Jazz Alder body with Ebony fingerboard and Dimarzio Model J's passive. I guess it depends on what sound you are looking for..walnut I think is a little darker sounding. Alder seems to be a very balanced wood.Ebony works great with roundwounds. As far as electronics I like a simple passive system with no hum for fretless.;)
