    greetings fellow bass players
some time ago i started to think about going fretless so it ended in de-fretting my bass
here is it fair to say that this is my first fretless experience
so far so good, like everything
    just one concern
after literally a couple of hours of playing i already see string's marks on the fingerboard which is rosewood as per subj.
please share your experience on how agressively does fingerboard wear develops and what do you do once it needs adjustment.
sanding grooves off? covering fingerboard with protective lacquer? replacing fingerboard once in a while? how often? anything else?
the purpose of the post is to understand future of the instrument and prevent not wanted wear if possible.
i play approx. 2-6 hours a week using flatwound strings.
    thanks for your input.
