fretless strings

    Can i paly a fretless bass with round wound strings? (regular strings)
    or I need a spiceal strings like flat wound?

    Yes, you can use rounds on a fretless. You just need to be aware that rounds will chew up the fingerboard faster than flats.

    Other options are ground wound/half round, and nylon tape covered rounds like the Labellas. The only bass I ever played that had the Labella tapes on was a Rob Allen MB2 5 string and I thought that combo was awesome. For what it's worth, I use DR Sunbeam rounds on my ebony board fretless.

    It is preferable to use flatwounds on a fretless

  5. No, not necessarily. Many great fretless bass players use roundwounds--Jaco and Jimmy Haslip, for two.

    It all depends on what sound you want to get.
