I'm very interested in acquiring a fretless violin body bass. I love the idea of a small, lightweight instrument that can give me the warm tones of an upright. I don't have a lot to spend, so I'm looking to keep it under $500, if possible. One candidate is a Douglas, which is so inexpensive that I'm suspicious, to say the least. I've seen two people several years back on TB start threads about one they bought and how much they loved it. That's encouraging, but I'm still highly suspect of an instrument that is so inexpensive.
