I am looking at a 78' fretless P-bass which is for sale.
All the parts are original, and is there supposed to be a date stamp on the back of the neck?
Because there is the Fender "F" on the neck socket, but no date.
Sorry I am quite clueless on this and knew that someone on here could help...
    thanks guys!
  2. There should be a serial number on the front, under the logo. A '78 will likely begin with 'S8xxxxxx'.

One little tip - check it's weight. Some late 70's Ps are boat anchors and can get very uncomfortable after a while...
