21 on my Sadowsky Vintage 5 24 on my Zon 20 on my '72 Jazz 24 on my Sadowsky 5 string fretless and Pushic 6 string fretted (both under construction) I prefer 24. Jeff
I have 24 on all of mine but in reality thay could all be frettless from the 16th up, I dont do alot of playing up there and I have big fingers so it just gets too crowdwed.
21 on my Peavey Foundation None(20) on my unlined fretless Electra Westone 24 on my Ibanez SR506 20 on my Fender MIJ Geddy Lee Jazz 22 on my Pedulla Rapture J2 5 None(24) on my Zon Sonus Custom Fretless 5 24 on my Peavey Cirrus Custom 6
Frets? Yes. I have frets. I don't know how many there are because there are no dots on my fretboard. I seem to remember that there was supposed to be 24, but I never counted them.
24 on most of my collection and I rarely make it past the 15th fret. Brings up a question. On a fretless I would play right on the pick up sometimes or atleast really close to it. Anyone ever seen a bass that was fretted for the first octave and fretless for the second? I may have to do that just for kicks. Those Jay Turser basses are perfect for such a wacked idea.
I have 22. I never really even use a lot of the upper frets, so anywhere from 21 and up is fine (well, not even 21 really, but you really don't see a lot of basses with less 21)
I played something where I actually needed the 23rd fret on the G-string, but I don't remember what it was.
I had a girlfriend who used to say: "You are so large that you look like a triple octave neck" ... ....talking about my bass: 24 but I never use more than 22.
I assume she meant you are tall. Otherwise I hope you are less than a 9 inch raduis. Anything bigger then that is do wide and flat. Imagine JT's Conkins
