Frett click

Discussion in 'Hardware, Setup & Repair [BG]' started by Davidoc, Jul 1, 2001.

  1. When I play my e string any way that's not extremely soft, it clicks against the last fret. I wanna rip the fret right off! What can cause this. I'm thinkin truss rod, but not sure. Advice?

    1. Have you tried raising the saddle or do you have to raise it so high that the action is simply unacceptable?

    2. Adjusting your truss rod often does alleviate this problem, IME. If you don't have instructions for truss rod adjustment from the manufacturer, use a search engine to find sites with truss rod adjustment. Don't just dive in and start yanking on the rod if you've never done it before.
Once you adjust it, you may very well have to adjust your saddles anyway.

    3. If some sort of balance between truss rod and saddle adjustments doesn't do it, I'd be at the tech to have them look at the fret dressing job that was done on the bass.
