Fretting Thumb

    where should the fretting thumb be?
  2. Behind the neck, touching the middle very lightly. You may need to adjust you bass's position if this bends your wrist a lot.

    Put it over the top of the neck for bending if you happen to do that.

    Sometimes you can be lazy and hold it like a baseball bat, but that's trouble if you're trying to do anything but pound out roots.
