  1. Lately frettless had been looking quite appealing. I'm wondering the advandages a 4 string fretless had over a 4 string fretted bass, and are they good for metal/rock. And if so can you WONDERFUL bassaholics reccomend some good ones for around $600 ? And how much harder are they to play then a fretted ?

Well, they're a lot harder to play than a fretted instrument because your finger placement determines the exact note.

Try one out in the store and see for yourself. Take your guitar player along and jam...it will open your eyes for sure.

Fretless is a blast but it takes a lot of work to play accurately.

    Have fun!!!!

If you have a Sam Ash nearby, they have some Carlo Robelli fretless that start under $300 that seem pretty decent.
