I've got this friend and he's been having some problems with an acoustic-electric Tacoma Olympia bass. He doesn't live in a humid climate at all, but apparently, something has caused select frets to make a nasty, tinny, flat sound. Previously, this occured on the 7th - 14th frets of the G string. The problem was fixed, but for whatever reason the bass was replaced. It's happened again, but this time only on the 12th fret of the G string. Does anyone know if this is a recurring problem with Tacoma Olympias, or is this some kind of strange, isolated incident?

Hmmm - a low or high fret, maybe? Has he tried a setup and checked the neck specs?

I've heard of a few quality issues with some Olympias - that kinda goes with the territory in lower cost Korean instruments. I've only handled about a half-dozen Olympias, and one was outstanding, two were lemony, and the rest were OK.
