1963 Fender Jazz Bass with a sunburst refinished body for sale for $4500 plus shipping to USA addresses. This bass is all original except for the expert refin of the body with nitro lacquer. (The finish on the neck is original.) The date on the butt of the neck is 7 December 1963; the serial number is L22868; and the pot codes are 304-6320 (manufactured the 20th week of 1963). The neck has only small, superficial scratches and dings, nothing that your thumb would notice. The truss-rod nut is super clean and flush with the butt of the neck. The pickups are strong and articulate. The body is new-looking except for one spot on the bottom edge where there are a few chips down to the wood (the largest chip is about 3/8 by 1/4 inches). The bass weighs about 9 pounds. It was just set up with nickel-plated steel roundwounds by Mike Lull, and plays cleanly everywhere with low action. Unfortunately, the pickup covers were lost at some point. The case is original, but has ugly dark stains on the interior.

In summary, this '63 Jazz is an excellent vintage bass for sale for less than the cost of two Custom Shop reproductions.

Sorry, but I'm not interested in a trade.

Photos to follow later today or tomorrow.

Sweet Bass, I'm sure it sounds great.
But whom ever finished it, got it wrong for a 1963.
The red and the center orange is off.
Send it to Bluesman Vintage Guitars.
Have them refinish it, with a slight relic.
It will increase value of this fine bass.

Thanks for the input, but the next owner can do that if he wants to. When I bought this bass, I was more interested in whether the neck would play low and buzz-free everywhere. (It does.)

Price drop to $4500 plus shipping. I've seen bigger price tags on some Fender Custom Shop reproductions!
