For sale for $1000 plus shipping to US addresses: 2004 Fender American Jazz Bass, maple fingerboard, alder body, upgraded Fralin pickups (original ones included in sale), about 9 pounds, in like-new condition. (Okay, there is one pinhead-sized dimple in the clearcoat on the back...get your magnifying glass.) This bass plays cleanly everywhere, with very low action. Recently set up with new nickel-plated steel roundwounds by Mike Lull. I picked this bass out from a bunch of Jazz Basses when I bought it new in 2004. It's a good one.

Pictures to follow later today or tomorrow.

So the 2004 models had an S-1? I may have had Mike Lull disconnect it when I had him put the Fralins in several years ago. (I can't remember.) In any case, this is a wonderful playing and sounding bass.

  7. Yea I have an '04 mia fender jazz, and it is my favorite years for the fenders. I know everyone hypes up the new ones, but these 03-07 MIA Fenders are superior IMO. I think the feature of the quartersawn neck alone makes these superior. The thinner undercoat does little for sound and decreases durability, this '05 model have a nice coat of poly, built to last in the Fender tradition. The s1 switch is a great idea but poor execution, I changed mine to a push pull pot. Overall a great great instrument.
    GLWTS!
