I'm only listing this bass for economic reasons. It looks, plays and sounds fantastic. Actually it sounds more like an upright than any other fretless I have played or owned and that includes basses by Rob Allen, Shuker and Stambaugh. This may be the only one of these in existence but I'm not sure. I tried contacting Azola about it but never was able to get a call back or reply.

    Here's a detailed description:

This is a Super Rare & Ultra Cool PROTOTYPE Serial #001 AZOLA NOUVEAU AE fretless bass for sale! Spruce top w/quilted flame maple sides/back, 34 inch 21 fret long scale hard rock maple neck w/factory lined ebony fretless fretboard, nut width 1.5 inch (slim Jazz bass feel), rosewood? laminated headstock, flame maple bridge w/proprietary multi-piezo bridge pickup system with active buffer(single 9 volt battery), rosewood thumb rest rail, string through body design rosewood bridge w/volume & tone control w/neutrik jack, weighs only 7.5 LBS, hand crafted in California USA, everything looks to be 100% original w/Gretsch hardshell case.

This bass is already discontinued, and looks like this one retailed over $3000.00 new due to extra charge for quilted maple back/sides. Overall this bass is in very clean excellent condition w/only few very unnoticeable dings (1 by the top strap button, 1 by the end of the f hole on the top, 1 on the back by the contour, tiny faint scratch on the side of the neck 9th fret (all very unnoticeable) strung with GHS flatwound strings, but does have faint string rub marks on the fretless fretboard. I dont see any scratches, but may have few unnoticeable dust scratches that I missed.

For exact specs and more information, please check w/Azola bass website. Also check the low end website SOLD GALLERY under Azola and you will see this bass.

The price is $1,500.00 shipped and insured in the continental US.

I'm not really interested in trades but I'll listen if you want to offer something up.

    Nice looking bass. More info:
    http://www.azola.com/sys-tmpl/nouveau/

It looks like they've got a newer Nouveau II coming out soon, but nowhere near $1500.

If this didn't have a Jazz neck, I'd be curious to try it. I'm sure whoever gets it will have a killer bass. Hope it goes to a good home.

    ....and here's one more!

These should give you all a pretty good idea of what kind of voice this bass has.

So it was you who snagged this! I watched it disappear on eBay, what a beauty...

I have played a Bugbass and Mr. Azola knows his stuff. I can only imagine what this one's like (with a Jazz neck !):crying:
