I have several 4-string sets of strings both new and used that I no longer need. I went through a phase of trying different strings with my basses to determine which strings worked best and these are strings I won't be using. The used strings, with the exception of the Rotos were put on for an hour (at most) and then removed so they're practically new. The Rotos were purchased used so not sure how long they were on but when I used them they still sounded good (not dead yet). The used strings are cut for a Fender P and Jazz bass.

    Fender SS Flats 9050s (.45, .60, .80, .095) - NEW - $15 shipped - SOLD
    Fender SS Flats 9050s (.50, .65, .85, .100) - NEW - $15 shipped - SOLD
    GHS Pressurewound (.44, .62,. 84, .106) - USED - $15 shipped
    GHS Pressurewound (.44, .62, .84, .106) - NEW - $20 shipped
    Rotosound Swing 66 (.45, .65, .80, .105) - USED - $10 shipped SOLD
    Rotosound Swing 66 (.40, .60, .80, .100) - USED - $10 shipped SOLD
    GHS Brite Flats (.45, .56, .77, .98) - USED - $20 shipped SOLD

I'm guessing on the Rotosound strings since there's no packaging associated with them. Take them all for $75.

What did you end up going with after this shoot-out?

I ended up with Sunbeams on my 4-string fretless and fretted jazz basses, Chromes on my Pbass, Lo-Riders on my 5-string jazz, Half Rounds on my PJ and GHS Precision Flats on my 5-string Pbass. I got a set of Pyramids and may try those out. For now, I'm happy with the strings I'm using and my favs are definitely the Sunbeams and wouldnt hesitate stringing all of my basses with them....but what would be the fun in that :) Would love to try a set of Labella tapewounds one day. Thanks for asking.

Cool! All good choices. I'm on a similar quest myself. If you by any chance want a 4string set of Lo-Riders(stainless), Id trade for pretty much any of those except the rotos. They were on a p bass for about an hour

I bought them used and when I tried them they seemed ok on my Fretless. They're definitely not dead.

What are the pw's like? Are they similar to flats or rounds & sound characteristics please?

  20. pressure wounds are a great choice for fretless. Not as hars on the fretboard but sound very similar to rounds. I love them love them love them!
