OK...fine......$1750 then. I guess my children could lose a little weight anyway.

Clement # 249. 5 String. Completed in September 2011. Exceptional instrument - I just can’t justify so many basses (or at least that’s what I’ve been told - and boy, was I told). Huge sound with wide tonal variation. Very fast and comfortable neck. No dents, scratches, bruises or blemishes (though there is the odd tear stain from when I packed it up for the last time).

    Solid Claro Walnut body.
    Quarter sawn Maple neck.
Highly figured Bird’s Eye Maple fretboard.
Nordy NP5 and Nordy Big Split pups.
    Aguilar OBP-3 preamp.
    Hipshot bridge, tuners and knobs.
    7.9 lbs.
    34” scale.
19 mm string spacing at bridge.
Strung with TI Jazz flats, but I'd probably put Fat Beams back on it if I wanted to do much slapping.

See Ed Friedland’s review of a Clement bass here:

Tom’s prices have gone up and finding a piece of solid Claro like this is not easy. To get a new one from Tom would cost ~ $2500 (plus taxes and shipping). I’m asking $1750. Shipping included to Canada. Will split shipping costs to the US.

I am not interested in trades (if I didn’t have to reduce the inventory, this wouldn’t be for sale).

Thanks for looking. And if nobody buys it....well then I'll just have to keep it. Not like I didn't try.

Quote from myself in the Clement Club thread in January, 2012:

"On #249 we installed a Big Split at the bridge and an NP5 at the neck. OBP3 pre-amp. Goes from smoking slap to thuddy P to very growly fingerstyle. While I do tend to switch basses around a bit (just traded a Roscoe for an F Bass), #249 will go nowhere."

I think I was smarter back then.

I have some Claro for one piece bodies but not as pretty as this one. Good luck with it.

Could you please elaborate on this "(though there is the odd tear stain from when I packed it up for the last time)"

Metaphorical tears. I said goodbye and put it away in it's case in anticipation of a reasonably quick sale. That hasn't happened. So I've taken it back out - couldn't resist.

There are no blemishes on the bass - from tears or otherwise.
