    FOR SALE OR FOR TRADE:

This is a top of the line F Bass BN5. Astounding Macassar Ebony top, flame maple fingerboard (hard to see in the photos, but really distinctive in person) and rare, classy Macassar Ebony block inlays, with matching headstock. 34.5" scale; will check weight but lighter than other F's I've played. I have owned 4 F Basses, and this is BY FAR (I cannot emphasize this enough) the best one I've ever seen, played, or heard. It is an amazing instrument on every level. George F. himself played one just like this for years, b/c of his high opinion of the sound of these basses (he told me so in conversation; you can double check w/him).

On the F bass website, you can see virtually the same bass for sale... for $8150! The pictures of celebs playing F basses on the web site shows Marcus Miller playing my bass (the exact same one; you can tell by the wood grain).

Ships with gig bag (not F bass gigbag, but a good gig bag) and will be professionally packed/shipped.

Asking $3800 (PRICE DROP #4) for this bass + shipping. F basses have gone up in price big time since 2008, and you will not find a better deal on this bass anywhere. The bass is in nice condition, but the nitro lacquer is delicate, and there's a small ding on the headstock, as well as some small scratches/4-5 mm areas of lacquer rub off on the pickup covers under the strings. Bass plays absolutely perfectly, and I mean perfect. Pictures do not do this bass justice.

Will also consider trades (+cash if needed) for

    Vintage Fender jazz bass
    Alleva-Coppolo jazz 4 string
Sadowsky NYC vintage jazz 4 string
    Sukop (34" scale) 4/5/6
    Fodera any 34" scale

Maple fingerboards preferred but let's see what you've got!

I got to play this bass and it has given me serious F Bass GAS! I can't afford this one, but it's well worth the money.

Man, oh man. That is one fine looking bass you've got there. A little to steep for my wallet, sad to say.

How do these basses sound? I've only seen clips of Alain Caron playing his fretless (which sounded like the best fretless I've ever heard). If you search for "F Bass" on YouTube, you get a lot of random F blues stuff...

  11. If sadowsky is a jazz on steroids, a Fbass is a jazz on champagne.

What a great bass. You're gonna regret selling this one. :)

BTW, I have a rather lousy soundclip posted at my site of a BN5, for those that are interested (please be kind, it's not the best playing in the world, I mainly did it just to check out how to use Reaper recording software...)

Congrats! That was a VERY pretty bass. I'd have bought it if I could have justified it, but I couldn't find a reason other than lust. Hopefully it went to a good home! :)

I think we are supposed to close the thread when it is sold, right?
